It’s hardly surprising that so many people want to buy property in Notting Hill, or that they tend to stay in the area for years. There is a great choice of parks in the district, with Hyde Park, Kensington Gardens and Holland Park all within easy reach. Notting Hill properties are also close to local gastro-pubs, organic food outlets and garden squares, as well as countless restaurants and the eclectic, one-mile-long Portobello Road market.

Gentrification has made this neighbourhood quieter (and much more expensive) than it used to be and today it's home to celebrities and wealthy families. A lot of these newcomers are international, with a large number coming from from Brazil and Portugal. For housing, you'll find a mix of colourful homes, elegant terraces, and apartments. Many of the terraced properties share private communal gardens.

Notting Hill attracts a wide mixture of people from celebrities, media, bankers to professionals, who predominantly work in the City of London, the West End, Canary Wharf and Mayfair. The highly prized communal gardens offer rare tranquillity in our modern world, arguably country living in London. It is largely home to many families and has excellent access to world class schools. These include Wetherby, Notting Hill Prep and Pembridge Hall.

Notting Hill is full of diverse culture. There are three theatres: The Tabernacle, The Gate Theatre and The Coronet. There are two traditional and quite famous cinemas: The Gate and The Electric where you can book a sofa to watch your movie and eat beforehand. If you fancy some art, the West Bank Gallery on Westbourne Grove will provide it. Rough Trade record store is one of the oldest vinyl record shops in the world located just off Portobello Road.

Notting Hill has a lot of shopping options and you'll find boutiques, bookstores, and independent shops selling unique handmade wares that you won’t find anywhere else. Each weekend the main thoroughfare, Portobello Road, hosts a street market.

Restaurants and bars here are some of the best in London. Food options range from pub fare to ethnic cuisine to Michelin-starred restaurants. As an added bonus, you won’t find better gelato anywhere else in London.

The Notting Hill Arts Club keeps a nice mixture of movies coming into the area, from arthouse films and foreign pictures to the latest superhero movies. Live theatre is slowly coming to life at the refurbish Coronet Cinema, which was originally established as a theatre in 1898. The Electric Cinema was built in 1910 and has enjoyed new life as a cool spot to catch a movie thanks to a 2001 renovation and the addition of a lounge.

Notting Hill also hosts a Carnival which is the largest street festival in Europe, celebrated each August Bank Holiday. There is a strong Caribbean theme to the carnival with hundreds of performers and floats along the parade route, attracting some 2 million people every year over the two days.

Notting Hill is bordered on the north, by North Kensington, on the east by Bayswater, on the south by Holland Park, and on the west by Shepherd's Bush.
