Our Heritage
When you step inside The Sloane Club, you become part of our story; a rich history spanning 98 years, and a heritage that we proudly celebrate in all that we do, from our enticing seasonal menus to our unique Members' Events and unrivalled local knowledge.
Founded in 1922 as the Service Women’s Club, our illustrious address welcomed the serving and former female officers of the Armed Forces in World War II. It later became The Helena Club, established in the early 1960s by a lady-in-waiting to Princess Marie Louise. Following its transformation in 1976, The Sloane Club opened its doors to gentlemen, and offered both women and men the exquisite service, delectable fine dining and indulgent home comforts that are synonymous with The Club today.

The Sloane Club lies just moments from the hustle and bustle of Chelsea, London’s most exclusive neighbourhood. Our majestic red-brick building sits neatly amongst those surrounding Sloane Square, hundreds of years old with beautifully detailed architecture. Around the corner is London’s iconic King’s Road where you can soak up the atmosphere and enjoy some retail therapy and a vast array of restaurants. Pimlico Road is a short stroll away, where you’ll discover one of London’s most creative design districts with furnishings, artworks and antiques. Then there’s nearby Pavilion Road, filled with quaint eateries and independent artisan shops including a butcher, bakers, wine merchant and cheesemonger. You can also immerse yourself in Chelsea’s unique mix of historic and cultural experiences including the famous Saatchi Gallery, impressive venues such as Cadogan Hall and the Royal Hospital Chelsea, and local farmers' markets every Saturday.
