Hospitality Projects

Vita Studio, London

Flair Studio was appointed to re-design, project manage and to deliver on site a boutique Fitness and Pilates Centre for Vita in Brompton Cross, Chelsea, originally designed more than 10 years ago by Tigg Coll architects and Fiona Barratt Interiors.

We worked closely with the client to rethink and to refresh the phisical image of the spaces by upgrading the operational and functional aspects of the boutique fitness centre as well as focusing on the brand image in collaboration with a creative agency. We strived to use lighting design to reimagine the perception of the spaces by bringing in warm, ambient light and grazing effects to the textured walls. Anti-glare solutions have been adopted for all visible light sources to ensure the visual confort of the users. The bautyful multi-coloured, grade listed external facade in London bricks andscalloped tiles was a great inspiration to develop in continuity the colour scheme for the interiors.

The refurbishment was also a good occasion to improve the sustainability of the commercial unit by retrofitting and increasing the performance of the existing building. Although working on a budget, we found solutions to add thermal and acoustic insulation, reduce the air conditioning usage by promoting natural ventilation into the classroom and by recycling and refreshing existing joinery.

Roberto Cavalli Store and Cafe in St. Tropez

Roberto Cavalli opened his first store in St.Tropez back in the Seventies. The new opening of a bespoke Cafe brings in glamour and style to the concept store nearby. The unique design blends brand values with unique sense of place.

Roberto Cavalli Cafe is a concept for a unique lifestyle club which is part of a 240 Sq mt site specific flagship store project.  It is located within a existing building in Place de la Garonne, the luxury area of St.Tropez.

The existing building went through important structural modifications to allow for a new facade, two new staircases and a professional kitchen. The glycine tree which spans from the ground floor through the roof into the terrace forms a sculptural feature within the Cafe. The new facade hides a suspended plant stand with six illuminated palm trees.

Cavalli Cafe Kuwait

For Roberto Cavalli in collaboration with Italo Rota

Flair Studio collaborated with Milanese architecture practice Italo Rota and developed their designs for two Cavalli Caffes in Kuwait and New Dehli. The luxurious location for the Cafe in Kuwait was within the prestigious malll The Avenues and featured a bespoke diamond shaped facade.

Hotel Cavalli Square, Dubai

For Roberto Cavalli

Flair Studio collaborated with Milanese practice Italo Rota for the designs of Hotel in Dubai for the Roberto Cavalli fashion brand. While Italo Rota was responsible for the Hotel exteriors as well as the entrance and all the common areas, Flair Studio designed the 55 suites of this boutique Hotel, the first large hospitality project of the brand, developed partly with bespoke items and partly integrating elements from the home collection.

Below is showcased the junior suite of 55 Sq meters, the smallest of the Hotel, which features a bespoke shelving unit which connects and separates the living area from the master bedroom. Special attention was given to the bathroom, a bright space enclosed in bronzed glass screens, featuring a mosaic wall from Sicis and bespoke taps from Gessi. Decorative elements from the Home Collection such as lighting, upholstery and bed lined alternates with Iconic elements of the brand which where introduced within the Montenapoleone flagship store.

The project didn’t go ahead, mostly due to the complexity of the site, a former theater building to be converted into a Hotel with a smaller theater venue.

Retail Projects

Velasca, London – Chiltern Street

Flair Studio Collaborated with Velasca Milano and the Milanese-based Paloma Architects for the design and delivery of the London flagship store for Velasca, an Independent brand which designs and manufactures hand-made Italian men shoes, in Chiltern Street a few meters away from the Chiltern Fire House in the upscale Marylebone area in London.

The store spans on two levels with a new staircase in blackened steel, enclosed by bespoke low level bookshelves. While preserving the heritage features of the building, such as the two columns flanking the entrance and restoring the herringbone floor, the store design introduced a mix of already lived-in bespoke furniture units mixed with vintage elements which were directly sourced from Lodon antique shops with the aim to create a workshop-like and lived in interior atmosphere, the Bowling Club being a playful theme which reminds of the 1960s swinging London.

The store launched at the end of 2019 with an opening which happened at the same time of the Chiltern Street Christmas Market night.

Ermenegildo Zegna New Bond Street – Alterations

Flair Studio collaborated with the Ermenegildo Zegna store planning team and procured design and project management services to upgrade large areas within the existing 1.026 Sq mt store spanning on five levels, located in New Bond Street.

The refurbishment entailed operational alterations which required planning consent, a design access statement and building control certificates. The refresh included a special maintenance for the accessories hall, the casual and formal areas as well as the staircase of the flagship store recently designed by Peter Marino Architects. Bespoke display elements for the accessories and fixed visual displays where introduced nearby the main entrance in New Bond Street.

Mulberry Regent Street, London

Local architect & site supervision services with Ganter Interiors

Flair Studio collaborated with Mulberry and the Ganter Group to deliver the new flagship store in Regent Street, the first to be designed by Faye Toogood.

The irregularity of the site with 3 entrances and 4 shopwindows on Regent Street, combined with the many interactions between the joinery and the shell and the alternation of different high level finishes, adding a tight deadline, have contributed to add challenge to this exciting project. The interiors are inspired by the British landscapes and the  geometric forms of Brutalist architecture buildings, with hand-made wallpapers alternated with concrete surfaces, stuccos, lava stone tiles and suede. The central feature is composed by two circular sheving units in pink ridded glass which intersect in the ceiling with a rounded skilight.

According to Mulberry the design aesthetic is modern with a hint of heritage that allows customers to discover the “tactile universe” of the brand, offering a contemporary environment described by the designer label as being inspired by “painterly qualities of British landscapes and strong but simple geometric forms,” to feel like a “welcoming home”.

Flair Studio’s project management services helped to liaise with the main and subcontractors in order to achieve high level of coordination between the bespoke joinery items, the shell, the decoration works and styling for the Mulberry flagship store in Regent Street.

Pink Shirtmaker London, St. Pancras International

For Thomas Pink

Pink Shirtmaker, London St. Pancras International concept stare was designed by Flair Studio in 2018 within the brick the vaults of the grade I listed St. Pancras International victorian railway station, designed by Chapman and Taylor.

The design intent aimed at slowing the pace of the customers arriving from the busy station in order to establish a personal connection and creating an opportunity to engage and to explain the different ranges of products, the quality of the bespoke Italian fabrics and ultimately, the values of the brand oiginated from Jermyn Street. Natural woods, neutral carpets and a bespoke, repositionable shelving system with integrated lighting and wayfinding system are the main features of this concept.

The refurbishment didn’t go ahead for budgetary reasons, although Flair Studio already obtained the heritage permits and tendered the works.

Charlotte Olympia London

The existing building is a four storey structure with restaurant at ground and first floors and residential at second and third floor. The residential units have a separate entrance and stairwell from Draycott Avenue.

The whole building had to receive minor structural works to be converted into a high-end flagship store. The former London pub-like wooden storefront has been demolished and after obtaining planning consent, a new pink plastered facade has been erected which encloses both the main entrance for the store and in a more discreet way, the side entrance for the flat at the second floor. The facade features a brass logo fascia and hides a planter trough at the top. Structural works where required for the new facade, for the double height at the back of the store and for a partial underpinning of the party walls. The new larger glass shopftont creates a vibrant street scene and attracts passers-by to step into the store.

A signature gold spider web, lit with recessed LED and spanning the entrance offer an invitation to enter the store and to experience the world of Charlotte’s Web. It also hides the security shutter beside, which runs into a brass portal. The store interior, designed in partnership with milanese pracrice Paolo Giachi, features a new store concept which translates and communicates the brand vision into a fluid and engaging spatial experience, where blush stucco surfaces alternates with dazling mirror effects, brass furniture and Charlotte Olympia London sophisticated imagery.
